First Annual Street Festival Took Place October 13, 2018
Peoria Warehouse District was alive with artists at our first annual street festival. We had 4 professional mural painters creating new work and the opportunity for the public to get involved in a paint-by-number mural as well as the new "Hello Peoria" mural. You can see the murals in the 1300 SW Adams block, Peoria' Warehouse District.
Over 30 chalk artists competed for $1000 cash prizes and performances from local schools and theaters were organized by Bryan Blanks. The music stage featured local acts with headliner Phanie Rae & the Soul Shakers.
We're planning now for October 12, 2019, and if you'd like to get involved, please contact us at email@example.com.
Big Picture Initiative is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Funds raised by the sponsors of Draw for a Cause chalk painting are used to pay teaching artists to work with kids in after-school programs and community centers. Big Picture members have successfully run art classes at the Common Place, the East Bluff Community Center, the Neighborhood House as well as a summer mural program and video class at Peoria Public Schools.
Watch art come to life as murals are painted in real time. Big Picture was proud to have four great mural artists who create new art for Peoria. Amsterdam Street Artist Ard Doko, Muralist Megan Couri, Mural Artist Brenda Gentry, and Mural Artist and ArtPop winner Brett Fitzgerald.
